About Tala Grounding

Reconnecting Canada. One Night at a Time
At Tala Grounding, we believe something powerful happens when we reconnect with the Earth. We sleep more deeply. We breathe more easily. Our bodies begin to restore themselves in ways we can feel, even if we can’t explain it. Grounding—also known as earthing—isn’t a trend. It’s a return to something we’ve always needed: nature’s quiet support beneath us.
Our journey began with one simple question: why does walking barefoot in nature feel so good? The answer, backed by growing scientific research, is electrical. The Earth carries a subtle charge that can help neutralize the stress and inflammation that build up in our bodies. Tala was born from the idea that this connection shouldn’t be limited to weekend hikes or summer barefoot strolls—it should be something you can access every single night.
The story behind Tala Grounding
Tala began with a personal return, not a business plan.
Long before our co-founder Mia had the word "naturopathy," she had her grandmother's world. Her grandmother was Ojibwe and authored Bugwaji — "Natural Places" — a book on medicinal plants and the quiet wisdom of the land. Mia grew up around the idea that the natural world has something real to offer the body, even if she wandered from it for a while.
When the pandemic left her frayed and looking for a way back to feeling like herself, she found her way back to that, too — not through a quick fix, but through a slow return to the basics: better sleep, a steadier daily rhythm, and time spent grounded and unplugged. Those small, natural practices became what she cared about most.
So she chose to study them properly rather than dabble — earning a CMA-accredited Naturopathy Diploma and completing Yale University's The Science of Well-Being — and then, with her husband and co-founder, built something honest around them. That became Tala Grounding: in a way, a continuation of something that started generations before her.
